Novarad was established in 1990 by Dr. Wendell Gibby, a radiologist. The first products developed focused on providing radiologists a better way to read remotely. These products included a radiology viewer and a teleradiology module. As our customer base grew, we began receiving requests for the development of a complete PACS. Developed by our Utah based development team, the first NovaPACS installation was completed in 2000 and was quickly followed by our first RIS. Input for product definition came from our customers, radiologists, IHE, and members of the Novarad Board - made up of radiologists, accountants, and businessmen. Since it’s humble beginnings, Novarad has now released 7 versions of both RIS and PACS, which feature many innovations, time saving technologies, and advanced features, having become products radiologists love. As one of the first completely mouse driven viewers, our product focuses on radiology efficiencies and productivity. Both our RIS & PACS have reputations of being easy to learn and use, but completely full of features for advanced users, as well. As leaders in radiology innovations, Novarad was the first company to develop an archiving system that includes two copies of all images for 7 years on site and on line, with a real time copy at an off-site facility. We were also first to introduce voice/curser annotation, a web based unlimited license referring physician’s viewer, all RAID 5 on-line storage, all off-the-shelf hardware that includes hardware maintenance and replacement. |
Novarad also pioneered the use of an IHE based RIS, variable speed window/level and image scroll, integrated dictation and report distribution, workflow tracking and reporting, and the completely mouse driven viewer. Additionally, Novarad is the leader in customizability of the PACS viewer preferences, mouse functions, and menus. With more than 800 RIS and PACS customers by 2011, Novarad continues to grow. Financially, Novarad is strong, debt free, and unbridled by Venture Capital or outside management. Novarad is a service focused company with the entire support team housed in Utah. As pioneers in effective remote support, Novarad has developed proprietary tools used to remotely support customers quickly and effectively using the latest technology and to monitor customer systems continuously.
