Innovation

We pioneered the simple, efficient radiologist workstation with features like easy image manipulation that can be accomplished completely through the mouse. This allowed radiologist to keep their eyes on the images and focus on the diagnosis rather than focusing on large on-screen buttons. We had the first completely mouse driven viewer.

We pioneered unprecedented communication with referring doctors by providing voice-cursor annotations. Where the radiologist could identify and describe their finding right in the study. The referring doc could see findings without having to wait for a full report.

We pioneered off the shelf solutions utilizing Windows NT and Windows 2000 to provide cost effective PACS on platforms that IT departments welcomed.

We pioneered the use of off the shelf hardware which helped to bring the cost of PACS down considerably.

We pioneered the PACS radiology service model where the PACS does not have to be paid for up front, thus reducing barriers to entry for smaller hospitals allowing them to install PACS for less then they spend on film.

We pioneered the quick install reducing go live dates from months down to weeks. We help customers leverage new technology and start saving money sooner.    For several years, our installations were 2 to 3 months faster than any other PACS company.

We pioneered the use of completely remote support, setting up a system that we could easily gain access to in seconds and then using our robust set of diagnostic tools, find the problem and fix it remotely.

We pioneered the use of color 3 mp monitors, instead of gray scale – thus allowing Ultra Sounds and Nuc med to be viewed on the same monitors as all the other images.

We pioneered the use of RAID 5 storage. We were the first ones to put all 7 years of images on-line with RAID 5. This reduced the cost of storage, allowed quicker access to any image, and eliminated the need to maintain tape drives or other off-line storage devices.

We pioneered the use of redundant archives on site. We were the first company to put two separate copies of all images and data on-line, on-site.

We pioneered the concept of including off-site disaster recovery storage in every PACS deal. most people consider that a separate purchase and the cost is very high. With NovaRad, it is always included.

We pioneered the use of low cost patient CD publication equipment, deviating from the very expensive standard of the industry at that time. We found that low cost equipment (from a different industry) works just as well and the expensive equipment which was the standard of the imaging industry.

We pioneered the idea of always including all software updates, including new releases. This allows customers to easily keep current on their PACS without having to renegotiate and pay out large sums of money.

We pioneered the idea of unlimited licenses for the referring physician viewer. For a long time, all other companies charged per seat. This was very expensive because there could be up to 500 referring physicians per site. We, since the very beginning, always included unlimited licenses with every PACS.
